Last Epoch is built on the Unity engine and runs only on 64-bit Windows 10 using the DirectX 11 graphics API. The isometric camera is not demanding in itself, but the ARPG genre brings a different kind of load: dozens of enemies on screen, summoned minions, chained skills, loot explosions and network synchronization for parties of up to four players. The requirements are set by these moments of peak combat density, not by walking around town.
The processor (CPU) is the main bottleneck in the late game. Every hit, on-hit trigger, stack-based damage calculation and the behavior of each monster pack are handled by the CPU, which is especially noticeable on minion builds and in dense Monolith of Fate echoes. The minimum is a quad-core Intel Core i5-2500 or AMD FX-4350; for stable frame rates in the endgame an Intel Core i5-6500 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200 is recommended. Strong per-core performance matters more here than a high core count.
The graphics card (GPU) and video memory (VRAM) handle skill effects: explosions, auras, elemental ground effects and loot highlights that stack on top of each other in the middle of a fight. The baseline is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX 580 with 6 GB of VRAM; for high settings an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 or AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT with 6 GB or more is recommended. VRAM headroom keeps zone textures and effects resident without mid-fight streaming.
System memory (RAM) starts at 8 GB, with 16 GB recommended. The game keeps zone data, enemy models and effects in memory, while a browser with a build planner, Discord or a recording app often run alongside it. With 16 GB the system does not have to page data out to disk, which means fewer hitches in long sessions.
The game needs only 22 GB of storage, but the developers strongly recommend an SSD. Endgame progression in Last Epoch is a constant stream of zone changes: every Monolith echo, dungeon and arena run means a new load. On an HDD these loads drag on, while on an SSD moving between echoes barely interrupts the farming loop.
