Path of Exile 2's baseline is unusually light for a 2024โ2026 release, and that traces directly back to the studio running its own in-house engine โ one that's been iterated on since the original Path of Exile shipped in 2013 โ rather than adopting a newer, heavier off-the-shelf solution.
CPU demands stay modest at both tiers: the engine has historically spread work across threads reasonably well, but with dozens of monsters and overlapping skill effects on screen at once โ a normal state of affairs in endgame Atlas maps โ single-thread performance still matters more for frame rate than it does in most modern shooters.
The graphics card is the one spec where Grinding Gear Games spells out a hard floor directly: a minimum of 3GB of VRAM is called out as a separate note on the store page, not just implied by the listed cards. That comes down to effect density โ large group fights stacking dozens of simultaneous spell effects lean harder on video memory bandwidth than on raw GPU compute.
Memory requirements are identical to the original game โ 8 GB minimum, 16 GB recommended, unchanged since 2013. Storage is likewise fixed at 100 GB for both tiers on paper, but in practice it grows with every major league patch adding new assets, so leaving extra headroom is worth doing.
The game is still in Early Access, so Grinding Gear Games could revise these official requirements before the 1.0 release โ the figures here reflect the Steam store page as of this review's publication date.
