The global PC Early Access for AION 2 is officially live, kicking off with immediate server strain and packed login queues. Following a brief 30-minute delay to wrap up client decryption across the Purple launcher ecosystem, the gates to Atreia opened wide. The response was instantaneous. Thousands of veterans and newcomers rushed the authentication servers, pushing initial European realm capacities to their absolute limits within minutes.
The immediate bottleneck stemmed from AION 2's strict faction architecture. Unlike traditional MMOs that balance opposing sides within the same world, this launch enforces a rigid one-faction-per-server model. Each realm is dedicated exclusively to either Elyos or Asmodians, routing all open-world faction warfare into cross-server Abyss zones and fortress sieges. While this guarantees absolute faction cohesion at home, it removes any ability to dynamically balance queues. When character creation caps hit, they hit both sides simultaneously.
NCSOFT moved fast to relieve the pressure. Just a few hours into the launch window, the publisher deployed two brand-new European realms to double region capacity:
- Yustiel — an emergency realm dedicated entirely to the Elyos faction;
- Marchutan — a fresh world designated exclusively for Asmodian legions;
- Both servers opened with clean slates, zero market progression, and uncapped character creation slots.
For organized guilds and solo players locked behind brutal queue timers, the fresh worlds offer an ideal landing spot. Uncontested quest hubs, zero competition on critical early-game mob spawns, and an open run at coveted character names. With the foundation set and login queues stabilizing, the real stress test begins as Europe heads into its evening peak hours.
