XL Games and publisher Kakao Games have officially broken their development silence regarding the eagerly anticipated online action RPG ArcheAge Chronicles. Following the major rebrand from its original sequel moniker, the development team has shifted gears from cinematic teasers to concrete combat mechanics, detailing the combat flow and weapon masteries of the Berserker class.

The fresh design breakdown provides our clearest look yet at the game's high-impact action combat, which moves away from traditional tab-targeting toward active positioning, weighty recovery frames, and crowd disruption. Themed around the motto "Break Through. Never Break," the Berserker channels the mythical legacy of Shyagon, the God of Abundance—rooted in the ancient lore of Ollo's journey through the Garden of the Gods.

Rather than locking characters into rigid rotations, XL Games demonstrated how a player's combat role shifts entirely based on weapon choices:

  • The Axe and Shield setup serves as an aggressive vanguard tank. Berserkers crash headlong into enemy ranks, absorb incoming punishment with heavy shield parries, and retaliate with brutal cleaves. Emitting a piercing war cry, the warrior rallies party members while actively converting absorbed pain into physical armor;
  • The two-handed Warhammer trades tactical parries for unrelenting elemental devastation. Infused with thunder and fire, warhammer strikes fracture the earth, generating high-stagger area-of-effect shockwaves designed to shatter defensive formations before opponents can mount an answer.

This class breakdown marks the beginning of an ongoing development showcase for ArcheAge Chronicles as the team prepares to unveil additional combat disciplines, trading systems, and Unreal Engine 5 world features in the months ahead.
