Yesterday's brief panic across community hubs regarding the abrupt retraction of an official NCSoft blog post has been cleared up. Concerns over delayed launch timelines proved unfounded: the notice was pulled simply to correct an accidental duplicate entry in the European server roster. The finalized server infrastructure for Aion 2's Advanced Access is now live and locked in for September 30, 2026.
The defining structural shift in Aion 2 is a total overhaul of faction architecture. Classic Aion was notorious for one-sided faction stacking, where runaway population imbalances frequently suffocated Abyss fortress sieges. To eliminate this issue, Aion 2 enforces a strict "one server, one faction" policy. Players cannot roll an Asmodian on an Elyos realm. Server designations honor the Empyrean and Shedim Lords, explicitly pitting opposing deities against one another.
For open-world Abyss encounters and cross-server sieges, realms are linked in competitive pairs:
- Europe: Siel (Elyos) ⚔️ Israphel (Asmodian), Nezekan ⚔️ Zikel, Vaizel ⚔️ Triniel, Kaisinel ⚔️ Lumiel.
- North America (East) & Latin America: Siel ⚔️ Israphel, Nezekan ⚔️ Zikel.
- North America (West) & Asia: Siel ⚔️ Israphel.
Crucially, these pairings are not permanent. NCSoft emphasized that server matchings are dynamic and will be rotated periodically based on ongoing performance and active combat population. Should one server build an overwhelming war machine, matchmaking rotations will pair them against stronger opposition from other realms to preserve competitive friction.
Pre-downloading for the PC client is currently active on Steam and the Purple launcher. Accessing the starting servers on September 30 requires an active Founder's Pack, leading up to the free-to-play global launch on October 5.
