Blizzard has officially adjusted the testing timeline for World of Warcraft: Forever. Rather than running early in the week as initial client data suggested, the public stress test is now officially scheduled to kick off on October 21, 2026. This marks the final public network test ahead of the game's global launch on November 4.
The best part for the community is the complete absence of barriers. Blizzard confirmed that this stress test requires no beta keys, no pre-orders, and no special invitations. Crucially, an active World of Warcraft subscription is not required. Anyone with a basic Battle.net account can download the client and explore the reimagined Classic Azeroth free of charge.
Pre-loading is already live in the launcher. Getting ready for the test takes only three quick steps:
- Launch the Battle.net desktop app and navigate to the World of Warcraft tab.
- In the Game Version drop-down menu, select WoW: Forever - Stress Test.
- Hit install and download the game files in advance.
Expect technical turbulence. Blizzard is running this test specifically to push authentication nodes and starting zone layers to their breaking points. Lengthy login queues, lag spikes, and periodic realm restarts are expected — every hiccup helps engineers tune the infrastructure before hundreds of thousands of players flood the servers on November 4.
