Frontier Developments has pulled back the curtain in its September 2026 Dev Log, confirming one of the most anticipated announcements in recent space-sim history: Faulcon DeLacy is officially launching the Anaconda Mk II. Rather than replacing the 2014 classic or serving as a cosmetic facelift, the Mk II arrives as an entirely separate heavy vessel built from the keel up for modern interstellar operations. The ship enters ARX Early Access in October 2026, paving the runway for the free Law & Disorder major update scheduled for December.
The original Anaconda defined the exploration and combat meta for over a decade, but its legendary jump range and firepower came paired with notorious trade-offs: sluggish supercruise handling and atrocious cockpit visibility choked by a titanic nose. The Anaconda Mk II radically overhauls vessel ergonomics and structural design:

- Elevated Battleship Bridge: The cockpit has been elevated above the dorsal hull into a distinct conning tower. This configuration grants unobstructed sightlines forward and downward, eliminating blind spots during high-gravity planetary touchdowns and dense asteroid combat.
- Aerodynamic Silhouette & Fang Prongs: The dart-like profile is elongated and flattened, featuring a deep central trench along the upper deck and aggressive fang-like prongs carving out the bow.
- Integrated Forward-Deploying Large Hardpoint: Nestled dead-center between the forward prongs, engineers incorporated a custom forward-deploying heavy weapon bay. Housing the hardpoint directly along the vessel centerline prevents weapons from hanging awkwardly beneath the belly, dramatically sharpening convergence.
- Native SCO Architecture: Thrusters and power conduits are tuned for Supercruise Overcharge drives out of the box, backed by massive vectored engine flaps across the wide rear hull to elevate turning performance.
Arriving alongside the new hull is Law & Disorder, a winter systemic rework overhauling the long-criticized Crime and Punishment framework. For years, piracy and black-market smuggling felt economically hollow, stifled by immediate automated bounties. The December update establishes crime as a lucrative, high-stakes career path driven by contextual detection mechanics. If a commander eliminates the final witness at an isolated planetary settlement, the incident remains unlogged and undetected. Conversely, repeat piracy runs in a recognizable hull will draw relentless authority heat unless cleared through underworld black-market brokers.
Player-versus-player aggression is severed from local jurisdiction, moving under the dedicated oversight of the Pilots Federation. Crucially, Frontier is introducing safeguards to halt the ongoing extinction of Anarchy systems, restoring designated lawless safe harbors for pirate outlaws. Detailed module slot allocations and hardpoint distributions will be showcased across upcoming partner livestreams, while preliminary design logs are available on the official Elite Dangerous website.
