Funcom has officially launched Dune: Awakening on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The open-world survival MMO is available on day one via Xbox Game Pass, featuring full Xbox Play Anywhere cross-progression across consoles and PC. The console launch rolls out alongside a massive update introducing a dedicated single-player mode and the climactic story finale to Book One.
Console players can select between two visual profiles on PS5 and Xbox Series X: a Performance mode targeting 60 FPS with dynamic 4K scaling, and a Quality mode locking at 30 FPS with higher native resolution, upgraded lighting, and denser storm particle effects. The team fully adapted the UI for controllers and implemented advanced haptic feedback, making every subterranean tremor of an approaching Sandworm instantly palpable. Full cross-play matchmaking is absent at launch, with Funcom committing to deliver it in a post-release update.
The accompanying update brings extensive structural shifts to Arrakis. Optional PvP settings and granular difficulty sliders allow PvE survivors to harvest resources without the perpetual threat of gank squads. The endgame sandbox has been retuned as well, featuring overhauled high-tier testing stations and faster, higher-stakes Spice harvesting loops.
Releasing alongside the console port is the new Filmic Archive DLC, priced at $9.99 across all platforms. Inspired by Denis Villeneuve's cinematic universe, the pack features the iconic Caladan Stormcoat, the Fremen-inspired Aegis of an Unwalked Path armor set, and 73 brutalist architectural pieces to build custom Sardaukar fortresses.
On PC, Steam players can grab the base game at a 50% discount through October 8. Furthermore, anyone logging into the sands between now and October 22 will earn an exclusive launch celebration reward package.
