Rappelz Beginner's Guide: First Steps on Trainee Island
Welcome to the world of Rappelz! Trainee Island is your starting point, where you will learn the basic mechanics, get your first job, and tame your first pet. This guide will walk you through all the stages of the initial training in detail so that the start of your adventure is as comfortable as possible.
1. First Steps and Basic Controls
Right after spawning in the game world, it's worth setting up convenient loot collection.
- Press the T key to open the Action Window.
- Find the "Pick up item" action icon and drag it to your quick slot bar at the bottom of the screen (for example, to number 1 or 2). This will save you a lot of time when collecting loot from defeated monsters.

Your adventure begins with a conversation with the Beginner Guide. He will give you your very first quest — "First Hunt".
How to track quests?
- Press the Q key to open the Quest Window.
- You can drag this window to any convenient place on the screen. For greater convenience, click the "Hide Background" button in the quest window — this way the quest text will not block your view.
- Quest targets are easy to find: a special red icon will be displayed to the left of the required monster's name.
To equip items received as a reward, simply open your inventory (I key) and double-click on the item with the left mouse button.
2. Learning Skills and Navigation
After completing the first quest, the guide will send you to learn skills.

- Even though the quest text may mention the S key, the Skill Window is opened with the K key.
- Open it and learn the basic skill suggested by the guide.
After finishing the training with the first guide, you will be sent to the next one.
How not to get lost?

- There is a convenient "View Location" button in the quest window.
- Alternatively, you can simply open the location map with the M key. On the map, you will see the same familiar red target icon that you saw above the quest monsters. Head straight for it!
The next mentor will teach you the basics of job progression.
- Open the skill window again (K) and increase your basic job level using Job Points (JP).
- Then, you will be able to learn active skills, which will be your main weapon in combat. To learn or upgrade a skill, click on the upward-pointing chevron (located right below the icon of the desired skill).
3. Your First Mount
Traveling on foot takes a long time, so you will soon receive your first temporary mount.

- The mount is equipped automatically upon receipt.
- To ride it, you need to use a special mount summoning skill. Find it and drag it to your quick slot bar for convenience.
- In the future, once you reach the major cities on the continent, you will be able to rent faster mounts from Breeder NPCs.
4. Trainee Camp: Laks and Equipment Upgrading
Following the quest chain, you will arrive at the Trainee Camp, where you will meet Gildas (Trainee Instructor). He will be your main supervisor in the process of obtaining your first job.
First, he will send you to the Lak Trader, who is located slightly further up the stairs. Laks are an important energy currency in the game that drop from monsters.
- The trader will give you a Chaos Stone. This is a special container that holds up to 1000 laks.
- Be sure to equip the Chaos Stone (by double-clicking it in your inventory). You will only start absorbing laks from killed monsters while the stone is equipped!
- Collect at least one lak and return to the trader. As a reward, she will give you Moon Fragments.
After that, return to Gildas. He will teach you about equipment upgrading and send you to the local Blacksmith. In the dialogue with the blacksmith, choose to upgrade items.
Important: The blacksmith can only upgrade items that are currently equipped on you.
Next, a small side job awaits you — helping the local merchant. He will ask you to gather some herbs. They are very easy to find: go out through the eastern gate of the camp, the herbs grow right at the exit.
5. Choosing and Changing Your Job
Before or after gathering herbs, you can proceed to the most important stage — changing your job. For this, you need Instructor Deneb, who is standing one floor above the trader.
Attention: For Deneb to give you the job change quest, your basic job level must be upgraded to at least level 5 in the skill window (K).
- After taking the quest, you will be automatically teleported to the coast to the NPC Tristan.
- Tristan will instruct you to hunt Anathema monsters, which roam nearby.
- After killing them, you will have to return to Deneb on foot.
- By talking to Deneb, you will be able to choose your first specialized job. The choice depends on your race and preferences (Warrior, Magician, Summoner, etc.).
6. Basics of Pet Taming
After changing your job, Gildas will direct you to Summoner Rudmia. Rappelz is famous for its pet system, and here you will tame your first combat companion.

- First, learn three basic summoner skills in the skill window.
- As a reward for this, you will be offered to choose a Creature Card (for example, a Panther or a Poultry).
- Open your inventory and go to the "Cards" tab.
- Take the "Taming" skill from your skill panel, target the corresponding monster (the one you chose), and use the skill. If the taming is successful, you will see a system message in the chat.
- Press the Y key to open the Formation interface.
- Double-click on the tamed card in your inventory to place it in an active formation slot.
Now use the "Summon Creature" skill, and your pet will appear next to you!

Pet Management
- Double-clicking the pet icon on the screen will open its stat window.
- Open the Action Window (T) and drag the Creature Attack icon to your quick slot bar. This will allow you to command your pet to attack your target.
- You can learn more about pet progression in the complete pet guide on MMOChronicles.
7. Departure to the Main Continent
Return to Gildas, then head to the next trainee instructor, who is standing closer to the coast. He will give you your final monster hunting tasks.
Upon completing them, your training on Trainee Island will be practically finished. You can complete any remaining side quests on the island or head straight out into the big world.
- Return to the center of the Trainee Camp to the Gatekeeper.
- In the dialogue with him, select the teleportation destination corresponding to your race (Gaia, Deva, or Asura).
- After teleporting, find the local guide in your race's capital on the continent and continue your great adventure!
