Runes of Magic belongs to the same wave of late-2000s free-to-play fantasy MMORPGs, where class systems and castle siege PvP mattered more than graphics. These picks share that same backbone: tab-target combat, guild warfare as the actual endgame, and communities that kept playing long after their official Russian servers shut down.

Each game made the list for three reasons: branching or flexible class progression, a siege or guild-war system comparable to RoM's castles, and status as a live project running on international or private servers rather than a dead official release.
